Get the bugs our of your bed!

"Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite!" All little kids have heard this nighttime reminder. Bed bugs are the most common of ectoparasites. Before World War II, bed bugs were commonly found in many homes. With modern pest control introduced in the 1940s, this insect started to fade away. Recently it has reappeared as a problem in many structures. Bed bugs feed on your blood while you're in bed sleeping. It is a painless bite, but they can feed for an extended amount of time. A red, itchy bump will appear after the bite. Thankfully these annoying pests don't carry disease, but you still don't want them in your bed.

How do you get bed bugs?

The eggs of a bed bug are deposited in the bed at the frame, in the mattress seams, on the baseboard, in trim, or in other furniture near the bed. These insects can even live several feet from the bed in walls or doorframes. Adults and nymphs live together waiting for night when they can come out and feed. When the amount of bed bugs gets too high, or the person sleeping on the bed leaves, the bugs relocate. They can also be moved from place to place inside of furniture.
